Description

Rabeprazole Sodium 20 mg and Aceclofenac SR 200mg Tablets are used to lower and alleviate pain and inflammation (swelling) associated with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. Aceclofenac + rabeprazole can also be prescribed for the treatment of pain following post-traumatic and post-operative conditions.

Aceclofenac + rabeprazole consists of two medications: Aceclofenac (an analgesic) and Rabeprazole (an antacid). Aceclofenac acts by inhibiting the action of a chemical messenger called cyclo-oxygenase (COX) enzyme, which produces other chemical prostaglandins. By inhibiting the action of COX enzymes, less production of prostaglandins takes place. This reduces mild to moderate pain and inflammation at the damaged or injured area. Gastric discomfort and acidity have been reported due to Aceclofenac. Therefore, it is used in combination with Rabeprazole, which is a drug in a class of proton pump inhibitors that decrease the production of acid by the stomach and protect the stomach from damage. Therefore, the combination relieves pain with lesser gastric irritation produced by Aceclofenac when administered individually.

Benefits:

  • Aceclofenac is a member of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (pain killers) that inhibit the action of a chemical messenger in your body, called cyclo-oxygenase (COX) enzymes, which produce another chemical, prostaglandins.
  • Inhibition of the action of COX enzymes results in fewer PGs being formed. Thus, it alleviates pain and swelling of various forms of arthritis, e.g., osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis.
  • Rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that decreases the excess amount of stomach acid and bile produced.
  • Rabeprazole is a drug that decreases the quantity of acid produced by the stomach, thereby preventing damage to the stomach.

Uses:

  • Aceclofenac + Rabeprazole is employed for relief from pain. It eases pain and inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and osteoarthritis. It also eases toothache, lower back pain, ear, and throat pain.
  • Aceclofenac is an anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that acts by inhibiting the release of some chemical messengers responsible for causing pain and inflammation (redness and swelling).
  • Rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that prevents stomach lining damage caused by Aceclofenac.
